When creating Attribute Categories, there are several different places where they can be displayed. Where the Attribute Category is available is determined when What should this category attach to? is set.

How to: Utilize Entity Attribute Categories
1. Individual
When to use: Collect information from every individual that is created.
When not to use: If you have a question that you want to ask every person who attends an Event. Use Attendee.
Example: Are you a staff alumnus?
2. Family / Group
When to use: Collect information from every Family or Group that is created.
When not to use: If you have a question that you want to ask every person who is created. Use Individual.
Example: How did you hear about us?
How to: Utilize Registration Attribute Categories
1. Attendee
When to use: If you have a question that you want to ask every person who attends any Event.
When not to use: If you have different questions for some Events but not for others. Use Attendee - Additional Questions.
Example: When did you first start attending?
2. Attendee - Additional Questions
When to use: If an Attendee is registering for multiple events in a given year and the value needs to be the same for each Registration.
When not to use: If the Attribute value is only relevant to the specific Registration. Use Registration.
Example: What is your t-shirt size?
3. Registration
When to use: If the Attribute value is only relevant to the specific Registration.
When not to use: If you have different questions for some Events but not for others. Use Attendee - Additional Questions.
Example: Is the attendee arriving early or staying late for the Event?
4. Itinerary
When to use: Collect information that is needed for a specific Itinerary.
Example: Leadership Arrival Date
5. Event
When to use: Track information that is needed for the Event.
Example: What is the name of the speaker?
How to: Utilize HR Attribute Categories
1. Staff
When to use: Collecting information for a Job Posting Application.
Example: Do you know anyone who has worked on staff previously?
2. Interview
When to use: Collecting information for a Job Posting Interview.
Example: How has your past experience prepared you to work on staff?
3. Reference
When to use: Collecting information from a Reference about an Applicant for a Job Posting.
Example: Do you have any reservations about the applicant serving on staff?
4. Evaluation
When to use: Collecting information for a Job Posting Evaluation.
Example: What did you learn about yourself during your time on staff?
